Great start to the year
2.7 FTE and 45 children
Great new 0.5FTE - Karen Strijbis
New junior play ground - quote for $35000 but parent and wider community built it for $6000 - all from money fund raised in 2009.
It's a challenge having only 0.2 release. Roll on integration.
Looking forward to being in Nelson

Term 1 2010...
My apologies for not joining you this term. Now that I am back teaching 0.5 FTE I have to ration the amount of extra release time I take, for cost and learning outcome purposes! When you teach reading and writing to the five and six year olds you really do need to be there!
LCS is well and we are thankful to the Lord for a good start to the year. Our BOT has funded a fourth classroom which is of course a huge blessing to the teachers and students. We have 67 students and pray we will keep growing into our new roll cap of 75 and then beyond.
We have employed a wonderful new 0.5 FTE teacher, Miss Frances Neill who is working with me in the junior class. We are funded for 3.78 FTE and employing 4.5 FTE:
Year 1 & 2 Frances Neill/Fiona Sizemore
Year 3 & 4 Hermione Reeves
Year 5 & 6 Alan Robertson
Year 7 & 8 Chantal Smith
Specialist visual art and CRT Kyra Jones
Over the summer break our new senior playground was installed. Site work is still needing to be finished but the kids love the new equipment.
I hope to see many of you at the NZACS leaders conference in May.
Blessings to you all

Term One 2010...!
As I sit and write this I eagerly await a phone call from my proprietor to tell me the purchase of the new school is unconditional and give me the date of possession! This is an interesting time here at TCS. We anticipate having the new school ready for the coming term and this has been helped by the involvement of MMM. We are also in the process of submitting a request for a change of class to the MoE to develop a middle school. The proprietor is also exploring early childhood options for the new site. All in all a busy time HOWEVER if the purchase of Watlington falls through we look forward to a nice quite year. We would then only need to focus on the implementation of a new curriculum and the new national standards...;)
Our roll is once again higher than previous years with 75 on March 1st and we look forward to the new entrants taking our roll to mid 80's this year.
At the end of last year we were over exposed to the issue of cancer. Sadly one of my teachers had to return to Canada at the last minute last year to care for his mother while she went through Chemotherapy. He will return for the beginning of term two and we are very blessed with the teacher who has come in his place this year. Secondly our cleaner was diagnosed with terminal cancer. All is going relatively well for him but he is not expected to last till Christmas.
Please pray for our cleaner. He is a Christian and this has bought about many conversations about the things of God which has been encouraging. Please also pray for the bigger picture for our school. I am praying that we will have some new blood on the Board come May and that the Trust Board continues to see the big picture of Christian Education in Timaru.
Although we have been planning in accordance with the new curriculum I am now in the place of pulling everything together into a school curriculum document...must say I hate this part of the job!
Personally, my family is growing up too fast, rugby starts this weekend, was blessed to be a part of a Bob Fitts meeting last weekend, the study has started again and I have developed a real enjoyment in developing websites in my spare time God is Good!
